What is Minimally Invasive Surgery?Minimally invasive surgery takes advantage of new technologies to reduce the size of incision required for many traditional surgeries. In most minimally invasive procedures, a tiny camera is inserted into the body through a small incision. The surgeon is able to view a video image of the surgical site on a screen and perform the procedure by manipulating tools inserted through very small incisions. The end result of this surgical technique is less pain, faster healing, reduced risk of infection, and shorter hospital stays.
